you know you’re a zombie nerd when (part 62 of an ongoing series)

…when you disappointed that the book about zombies you bought isn’t as realistic as you’d hoped.
OH COME ON, HOW COULD ANYONE COVER UP A ZOMBIE EPIDEMIC? I MEAN C’MON!

Long incubation period and 100% mortality, along with a desire of the local authorities to keep it hidden. Very few people get out of an infected region, and if they do it’s a while before they want brains. This would be compounded if the disease could spread from a living carrier; at first it would seem like a non-zombie plague, and who believes in zombies?

Are you talking about “World War Z”? I thought it was quite good.

ucblockhead: yeah I am talking about World War Z. I’ll properly review it when I’m done, but the early chapters have really annoyed my existing sense of what would happen during a zombie epidemic.
ShadowNode: the problem with what you are saying is that it’s not a long incubation period with the zombies in general fiction or this book. And of course, 100% mortality is the starting point of this whole game which means that the epidemic would be incredibly difficult to contain to a certain region.
